Important Announcement to APU Master Lifters in NSW, QLD and ACT

30th December 2021

Dear All Master lifters of NSW, QLD and ACT,

NSW:

APU NSW state masters’ championships have been cancelled from the APU calendar due to lack of suitable venue. This will leave the NSW master lifters without a state championships event to qualify for the National Masters Championships to be held in Perth WA.

In consideration of this, the APU board will be granting exemptions for NSW Masters lifters to enter the National Masters Championships to be held in April at Perth, on the condition that they have competed at a local championship on or after 2nd August 2021 with a qualifying total to enter Masters (competed) and who meets the qualifying requirements outlined in clause 1.3 (ii) and (iii) of the Competition Progression and Team selection (Microsoft Word - APU_Regulation_Competition-Progression-and-Team-Selection-Process_Jan_2021_01 (powerlifting.org.au)).

QLD:

The QLD State Masters will be held in conjunction with the Open, Juniors and Sub-Juniors on 30 April – 1 May in Townsville, which means that the QLD Masters would not be eligible for National Masters in Perth which is a week earlier than the States.

In consideration of this, the APU board will also be granting exemptions for QLD Masters lifters to enter the National Masters Championships to be held in April at Perth, on the condition that they have competed at a local championship on or after 2nd August 2021 with a qualifying total to enter Masters (competed) and who meets the qualifying requirements outlined in clause 1.3 (ii) and (iii) of the Competition Progression and Team selection (Microsoft Word - APU_Regulation_Competition-Progression-and-Team-Selection-Process_Jan_2021_01 (powerlifting.org.au)).

ACT:

The ACT State Masters will be held in conjunction with the Open, Juniors and Sub-Juniors, in April which means that the ACT Masters would not be eligible for National Masters in Perth.

In consideration of this, the APU board will also be granting exemptions for ACT Masters lifters to enter the National Masters Championships to be held in April at Perth, on the condition that they have competed at a local championship on or after 2nd August 2021 with a qualifying total to enter Masters (competed) and who meets the qualifying requirements outlined in clause 1.3 (ii) and (iii) of the Competition Progression and Team selection (Microsoft Word - APU_Regulation_Competition-Progression-and-Team-Selection-Process_Jan_2021_01 (powerlifting.org.au)).
