Cancellation of 2021 APU National Classic and Equipped Powerlifting and Bench Press Championship, and Announcement of Club Championships to be held across Australia

Dear Members of the APU,
The health, safety and welfare of APU Members and its supporting community continue to be our priority.
We are disappointed to make the decision and announce that the 2021 APU National Classic and Equipped Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships which was to be held on the Gold Coast in October will not be going ahead. This is due to the uncertainties and unpredictability of the Covid-19 pandemic.
We wish to thank the APU Qld Branch who have been doing the hard work in preparing the event under uncertain conditions as well as to the Athletes and Support Personnel who have worked hard so far this year.
Additional notes to those who are preparing for our last state championships in South Australia, The championships will be going ahead (i.e. subject to restrictions from local government).
We confirmed that the collective results of the 2021 State Championships will be considered as the PRIMARY qualification to compete in 2022 IPF sanctioned International/ Regional Championships.
Furthermore, we hope that the following alternative will provide us all with a more stable and positive encouragement to all APU Members.
With the Australian Powerlifting Union Club Affiliates, the APU is organising a Club Championship to be held across the National affiliate clubs of the Australian Powerlifting Union between now and 31 December 2021.
Currently, affiliate clubs who eligible to enter the Club Championship are listed here: https://www.powerlifting.org.au/apu-affiliates . If you are a club or have a team of registered Powerlifters and would like to affiliate, please send your details to APU LTD Admin (webmaster@powerlifting.org.au).
