History

 

The Australian Powerlifting Union Ltd (APU) is a non-profit sport organisation. It was established on 8 January 2018.

Sean Muir, David Cheung, Cameron Whittington and Scott Peisley formed the Australian Powerlifting Union Ltd and the APU Ltd was later accepted by the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) as a provisional member in January 2018.

In November 2019, the 2019 International Powerlifting Federations (IPF) General Assembly vote in favour of the inclusion of Australian Powerlifting Union as a Full member of the IPF.

The Australian Powerlifting Union Ltd will be holding local competitions in regional and metropolitan areas of Australia and will be running National Championships in both raw and equipped events, 3 lifts Powerlifting and Single lift Bench Press championships.

The Australian Powerlifting Union Ltd will select teams to represent Australia at regional and international championships sanctioned by the IPF.

The Australian Powerlifting Union Ltd is WADA compliant and believes in a fair and equitable playing field.
